 My Fathers parents

Mother, Grandmother and Sister
My Mother is to the left, my paternal Grandmother to the right, and sister Molly at the front.

This picture was taken in the front garden of the family home in Moatview Park, Dundonald, Belfast in the 1950s.

Four of my paternal Grandmothers children emigrated to America.

Patrick, Mathew, James and Mary.

Patrick died in a construction accident aged 30 and Mathew died after surgery aged 29.

My paternal Grandmother died in 1958, and my paternal Grandfather died in 1918.

Jim was brought up in the USA, in the photo above he is wearing USA military uniform.

Jim’s Father (my Uncle James Heery) emigrated to the USA in the early 1920s.

Patrick, Rose and baby Micheal
My Father’s younger brother Patrick with his wife Rose and son Philip Michael, the photo was taken 1924.

My Father’s younger brother Patrick was the first to emigrate to the USA in 1920.

Unfortunately, Patrick, a rigger was killed accidentally while working on an elevated train construction in New York in 1929.

My Mothers parents

My maternal Grandmother died giving birth to my Mother, 1899.

My maternal Grandfather Thomas Smyth died in 1904.
